My Style Rules.....I Think !!

Do you have a personal style or a signature look? I'm not sure if I do, but I do have a couple of style rules I do live by.

Number 1:
Good underwear is a must, I strongly believe the key to a great outfit is good underwear.
I absolutely detest panty lines, so I always invest in seamless underwear - the best ones are from La Senza & Boux Avenue. If your are a little conscious of your weight or any lumps and bumps then spanx or smooth silhouette underwear is the way to go, there are so many available on the high street from shops including Marks and Spencer's, Bhs and Matalan. I suggest that when trying on control underwear, u try on a bodycon or a-line dress with it to see if it really does hold you in, and smooth your silhouette.

Number 2:
For me style starts from the bottom up, shoes can make a whole outfit. As you may already know, I absolutely love shoes. I usually get dressed from the feet up, as I choose what shoes I'm going to wear first and then plan my whole outfit around my footwear. ( I'm weird I know). I really try to invest in whatever I can afford. I'm lucky enough to have one designer shoe ( click here to see my babies) which were a gift. I absolutely love high street shoes. Most of my best shoes cost less than £20.00 but yet are good quality shoes. So don't feel you need to break the bank.

Number 3:
Find a tailor/seamstress
Sometimes you find the perfect skirt or trouser you absolutely adore but it just doesn't fit right, I'm 4"11 so I have this problem a lot. A little nip and tuck here or there will make all the difference.

Number 4:
One thing I have learnt about fashion is that you don't have to follow every trend. I like to buy classic pieces, so when shopping, I tend to ask myself will I still wear this in two years time. If the answer is yes then I will buy it if it's a no then I won't. It's that simple.
If I follow trends it's most likely to be in my accessories like shoes, bags, belts and scarves. That way my clothes remain timeless but my accessories keep me bang on trend.

I know there are always a bunch of magazine style rules that dictate what everyone should be wearing from season to season. But to me fashion is about experimenting, having fun and wearing what makes you happy. Those are the style rules I live by.

'Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess.' - Edna Woolman Chase

'Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.' - Lauren Hutton

'Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.' - Gianni Versace

Feeling Blue

Cobalt blue especially in the Autumn/Winter months makes me sooo happy. The colour is bold and always makes a statement. Cobalt blue is a great pick me up to dull winter colours like grey and black.

I wore this outfit to church, it wasn't too cold so I decided not to wear tights. I borrowed this jacket from my sister, (thanks Ade) the dress is from Topshop, it's not a new purchase, I'm shopping my stash remember, it's actually quite liberating. I have found new pieces to mix and match with, clothing that I can't wait to wear in the Spring and I have cleared out a large bag of clothes and shoes for charity.

I had never worn this dress before it was purchased in the sales about a year ago. The fit is amazing, the way the material is gathered  around your tummy is ideal if you carry some extra weight in that area.

The dress is a midi, so it's extremely flattering and I will definetely be getting a lot of wear out of this dress.
